The Force is With Us
My little creative kid strikes again. Bonus points for anyone who can name those Star Wars characters.
Goin' (Bow) Crazy
The other day one of my friends came over and we went a little bow crazy.
-And for anyone who is interested, these were made with the 30cent knee highs from wal-mart, and the ribbons on all but the red one were about 40cents a roll too. Super fun and way easy.

Neglected
My poor sad blog! It looks super neglected, unfortunately-it kind of is. About a week ago the monitor on our computer started to frizz out, and since we can't really afford to run out and buy a new one our economical solution was to move the computer into the TV room, and hook it up to the TV creating a large but usable screen, and saving us somewhere in the neighborhood of $300.
The good of this situation (which right now will probably be long term) is that I don't waste as much time on the computer as I did before. The bad, is that things-like my blog, and answering emails quickly-sometimes get neglected.
For some reason, even though it has moved only about 30 feet, the fact that the computer is now in the "family room" (ie: where my kids always hang out) I don't get the time that I used to, without interruptions. I am going to figure this out, and find a solution that will work fabulously, but until then-thanks for your patience.
In other neglected news, Beefy started pre-school today. We are just doing a co-op again, similar to last year only with different kids, and only one day a week. So far it is good, but I worry about him because he is young, and the only boy, and is in somewhat of a difficult "3-year-old" stage. I just hope it works well for him, and that he benefits from it.
Church stuff has been keeping me pretty busy too. There was a little rearranging with my calling, and now I get to be a beehive adviser (ie: teaching on Sundays, and generally supervising the 12-13 year-old girls). I'm super excited about it, these girls are super fun, and it gives me an in with a bunch of fabulous babysitters. ; )
Baby Sister hit 6 months this week, and my parents had their 50th wedding anniversary too. But, more on those later (hopefully).
Anyway, that pretty much catches us up for the time being. Most likely, more to follow in the not too distant future.

Careers
Today while riding in the car, Buggy informed me that someday he wanted to be an "airplane driver". I told him that they were called pilots and that when he grew up he could learn how to be one if he wanted.
He said he did, but then had to reassure himself by asking if I could sit by him while he flew the airplanes, and if Daddy could sit behind us too.
Then Beefy piped up that he wanted to be a fireman. Buggy decided that was too dangerous; I told him that being a pilot could be considered dangerous too, and that firemen had lots of training before they could fight fires - so they could be safe.
He still didn't want to believe me, and spent the next few minutes trying to convince Beefy that he should want to drive a school bus when he grew up instead.

First Day of School!
So, after what felt like the longest summer ever, the first day of school is finally here! Buggy is so excited to be in Kindergarten, he said he had a great day today.
He doesn't have a permanent teacher yet - the school is in the process of hiring one, that is a rant for another day - but we met his substitute teacher last night at "back to school night" and she seems really nice.
I did good too, by the way. I didn't even cry or anything. I couldn't be sad when I saw him so happy and excited (we had to be at the bus stop - in front of our house - 20 minutes early); and, I squashed to urge to follow the bus to the school, and went and ran errands after he left instead.
He can't wait to go back tomorrow.

This Kid

My Mom called me on Monday of this week, because it was Labor day, and she was thinking of what they were doing last year at labor day (namely, rushing to Seattle to help us out after Beefy's accident). Labor day was earlier last year (September 1st). She asked if I remembered that it was a year ago...of course I remembered.
It was actually 1 year on August 31st. I thought about it a lot on that day, and the day before, and many of the days after. In fact, its been on my mind pretty much constantly for the last two weeks.
All I can say is how grateful I am to have this little guy.
Another Reason Why I Love My Husband

Hmmm...
Buggy informed me that "people who read too many books sleep with their eyes open". And apparently he reads too many books, so he sleeps with his eyes open.
He then pointed to his head and said, "I'm just asleep in here".
Silly kid.

Crazy Crazy Busy
How did I get so busy? Seriously, I've had something going on pretty much every day this past week, and the next two weeks don't look any better (worse, in fact). Not that I'm complaining - I'm actually much happier when we have lots going on - I just really need some time to sit down and relax. Good thing tomorrow is Sunday.
Anyway, here is what we've been up to this week:
Monday - We took Baby Sister to the doctor, worried she had an ear infection. No infection, just teething related grumpiness. I guess that is a good thing. Buggy also had soccer practice that day. I'll have soccer pictures in a future post.
Tuesday - My husband and I got to go to the temple with the youth from our ward. What a great way to spend a day.
After we got home, we took the boys to their first day of swimming lessons. See, our local swimming pool (most likely in an effort to eek a little bit more money out of everyone) added one last week of swimming lessons before school starts next week. It was a shorter class (only 4 sessions), but also much less expensive than regular lessons.
The first day there was a little bit of apprehension about getting in the water with out me, but once in - they loved it.
Wednesday - This was a rough day. I don't know what the deal was, but either me or the boys, or all of us got up on the wrong side of the bed.
It took us until mid-afternoon before we could get the chores done and get out of the house, which left us just enough time to go buy Buggy a few new school shirts (the Osh-Kosh outlet was having a sale), get gas in the car, and get to swimming lessons.
After swimming was over, we raced home so that I could go to the youth activity that night at Mukilteo beach. What a blast - I am really loving getting to work with these girls. They are so much fun, and their energy is definitely contagious.
Thursday - After spending the morning paying bills and trying to catch up on a little housework, we got to go to a friend's house to make invites for a baby shower we are throwing in a couple of weeks (they were cute - but of course I'll post all about it after the event).
Then it was back for day 3 of swimming. By this point they loved it. It was no effort whatsoever to get them to jump in the pool. They even started putting their faces in the water.
Friday - A visit to the park, and a play date with some of the boy's favorite friends filled up much of the day, and then it was on to the last day of swimming.
It was so great to watch them grow so much in such a short time. Beefy would hardly get in the pool on Tuesday, and by Friday he was sticking his face in the water and floating around without any fear. Buggy's favorite thing was showing me how he could "go under" and jumping of the side of the pool into the water. He could probably have been happy spending the whole time doing that.
They also played some games during their lessons. Over the last few days it has totally made me laugh to hear them randomly start chanting together: "alligator, alligator...", "motorboat, motorboat...", or "fishy in the middle...".
They had so much fun, which was my only goal for them through this, and now I know that they will be able to do it if we decide to do swimming lessons next summer. Buggy even confided in me that he was sad that it was the last day for swimming.
After swimming we went out to Red Robin for dinner with some friends. A good ending to a crazy week.
Thankfully the weekend has slowed down a little bit. I'm looking forward to having my husband home on Monday. He has some home improvement projects planned for that day (yay! I'll post pictures) and then we get to go to soccer practice, and spend the evening with friends. Always fun.
I wish I would have had my camera with me more this week (still hoping for a new one someday soon). But I did get a couple of pictures from swimming on Friday.
