Stuff I Love - Girl Scout Cookies

Does anyone else have a real problem (ie: huge weakness) with these things?

I do.

It doesn't matter how many boxes we buy, they go FAST.

Baby sister likes them too.

So does Beefy.
(Buggy and Daddy like them too, but I don't have pictures of them. Sorry.)

How am I supposed to diet now!? Darn those girl scouts. ; )

I guess I'd better go work off that last package of Thin Mints

Stuff I Love - Cars

When Buggy was about 2 1/4 years old, we bought the movie Cars, and our lives were never the same again. He would beg to watch it many times a day. It was in fact the only thing that he would watch for a while there. My husband and I, to this day can still almost quote the movie verbatim.
With the love of the movie came the inevitable love for the merchandise (sneaky Disney execs.) It was hard not to get into the spirit of it though, with so much cute Cars stuff out there, and a kid whose eyes would light up and the mention of Lightning and Mater. Over the next few years we accrued quite a collection of Cars themed memorabilia. Like everyone, some toys have been more popular at our house than others, but nothing we have found yet has equaled the love my oldest had for Cars for so many years.

It's been many, many months since we bought our last car, and our DVD hasn't been playable for a while now. Beefy still has a love for Lightning and Mater, but Buggy recently informed me that Cars isn't cool enough for a Kindergartner, and that he needed to have stuff (namely, his bedspread and room decor) that was cool, like Star Wars, and Mario (although, he still does carry a Lightning McQueen backpack).

As I was cleaning, and sorting through toys recently, my OCD took over and I separated out all of our Cars die cast cars, and then just kind of went from there, taking pictures of the boys room, and their things. I know that my days with these decorations are numbered, and I don't want to forget about them when they are gone. It is so crazy to watch my kids grow up so fast (they seem to be speeding right in front of my eyes lately).

I think I will always have a soft spot for Lightning and Mater.

Video Take 2

That's better.

Stuff I Love

Welcome to a new series of blog posts entitled "Stuff I Love". In it I will attempt to document, for your viewing and reading pleasure, some stuff that I love.

I've been thinking of doing something like this for a while, and finally decided to just do it. Kind of like my own quirky little take on one of those "getting to know you" games. It is probably a little narcissistic of me to assume that you would want to know about the things I love, but then again, having a blog by its nature is a little narcissistic. So there you go.

Just as an initial disclaimer: please take note that this will not be a documentation of all of the things I love, and I might not even include all of the things I love most. Please don't think me shallow. Mostly I just think it would be fun to chronicle some of the little stuff that makes my day a little brighter whether it be in a humorous, silly, wonderful, or any other kind of way. Thank you. I hope you enjoy.

For the Grandmas

Here is our little mover in action. Notice the mad multitasking skills - eating goldfish, talking and crawling at the same time.

(My new camera takes video in HD. So stinkin' cool!)

**Note: After posting this, and watching, I don't like the quality that it is showing here, and the sound is messed up. I'll keep working on it. Or, if you would really like to see the good version, you can always come visit, and watch it on my tv. ; )

Rut

So, I've been in a bit of a blogging rut lately, big surprise there. But I acquired something last weekend that should bring me out of it.

I got a new camera!

It's pretty cool, but I'm still learning how to use it. More will be coming soon, until then, here is a sample.

Giveaway!

Not me, but I am thinking of doing one, just cause I think it would be fun....it's in the works - stay tuned.

No, this is me entering a giveaway (something I've rarely done before-not counting the HGTV dream home, which I have entered for numerous times years past - haven't yet won).

One of my good friends, Alycia, has a photography business, and to celebrate the launch of her new blog and website she is having a giveaway. (Yay!)

What's New?

A few things that have been making me laugh lately, and other random tidbits:

  • Baby Sister is finally mostly over what ever has been making her grumpy lately, and is back to her usual cheerful self. She is crawling for real now, and I have to keep a close eye on her so she doesn't escape. Every time I sit her down in her room to play she makes a beeline for the brothers' room. Usually giving herself away by giggling loudly when she makes it.
  • Beefy has also been showing signs of growing out of his "three-year-old" stage. The tantrums, though not altogether gone, are definitely decreasing significantly. He's also started telling jokes, a lot. He thinks he's pretty hilarious. My favorite was on Sunday, on the way home from church. He told me that his shoes and socks were invisible, and when I checked my mirror, sure enough he had his bare feet sticking up in the air. I couldn't even be annoyed with him for taking his shoes off, it was pretty cute.
  • We ordered some new books this week, I had to get the next books in the Percy Jackson series. We also got a new Pearls Before Swine treasury. My husband and I love comic strip compilation books (we have a bunch of Fox Trot books as well), and our new Pearls book does not disappoint.
Thats all from me for now.

Lightning Thief

So I went to the midnight premier of The Lightning Thief last night with my YW girls. For a remake it was pretty good, and as long as you didn't compare the storylines too much, it made for an entertaining movie.

I haven't done a midnight movie in many, many, many years - in fact I think the first Star Wars movie might have been my last one.

It was super fun, but I am for sure feeling the late night today. I'm definitely not 15 anymore.

Oh, well. It was worth it.

The Day Has Come

After many years of practice, I have finally mastered the art of the "Mickey Mouse" pancake.

As you can see...They were a big hit.

There should really be some kind of parenting medal for accomplishments like this.

Bits & Pieces Again

Potty Training Update: Things are going nicely! We've been mostly accident free for over a week now (minus one small incident), and I'm very happy with it. He's even requested to wear underwear at night, which I've reluctantly let him do, and he's done okay with it. Hooray for almost having only 1 kid in diapers!

----------

We've all (except for Buggy - go figure) had colds this week. It's kind of sucked. We had to cancel what would have been a really fun play date on Monday, and now we are well enough to do what we need to do, but not so well that we can go out and just have fun. I think we're on the upswing though, so thank goodness for that. The worst is watching the baby with it. She's never really been sick before, it is so sad to see her trying to deal with the goopy nose and the cough.

----------

I just finished reading The Lightning Thief. Loved it! I so want to go out and buy all of the other books now so I don't have to wait for them at the library. I would definitely recommend this one. My cute YW girls got me into it - they did the same thing with Hunger Games. I love how I have found all of the good books I've read recently through a group of teenagers (who'd of thought?).

----------

Buggy's loose tooth is still hanging in there. I know he isn't going to let us just pull it out, so for his sake, I hope it falls out soon.

----------

We filed our taxes yesterday. Yeah, I think that is some kind of record for us. Can't wait to so the huge return we're getting. It's amazing what having another kid can do for your taxes.

----------

I just realized I never posted after Sister's CT... It went well, not to many drugs, and we'll get the results sometime in April. (Silly, I know)

----------

That's all for now!
