3 Months!

1)

Saturday marked 3 months since Baby Sister was born (I've been trying to work on my blog for two days now - can't ever seem to get there though). Anyway, we took some 3 month pictures last week (once again thanks to "AM"). We just took them around the house, but with a little photo-shop work, they turned out great.

**Warning: There are lots of pictures here. I had a hard time narrowing it down this time. Also, everyone else can ignore the numbers, they're for the benefit of the grandparents.

What I've Been Doing Instead of Blogging

Since Baby Sister's arrival (okay-and for a while before that too, really) I haven't been able to work on as many of my projects as I would like to. My card making has been drastically minimized and everything else gets planned but not executed as quickly as I would like.

Well, lately I've pushed myself to finish a few things, and I thought I'd share the results.

New Cards: These are my contributions for my card swap this month. Basically the same card, I just realized after I made the first one that it might be better in green instead of blue.

A Tote Bag:

I made this as a thank-you gift for my sister-in-law for hosting, and doing much of the planning for my parent's anniversary party last month. I love the beading detail on this.

Hairbows: I've been having lots of fun with these. Now that I think I have the basics figured out, I have a few more Ideas that I will share as I get them done. This is what I have finished so far.

Brown and pink polka-dot, small bows.

My personal Favorite. I love how this one turned out.

I also made a bunch of "4th of July" bows to go with some dresses that my mom is making for Baby Sister and 3 of my little nieces.

These are the ones I am keeping for Baby Sister. I'll post pictures with the dress, when I get it.

Well, this is what I have completed up to this point. I have a few more projects in the works, hopefully you will be seeing them on here sooner, rather than later.

Crazy Boys

Lots to catch up on in posting about my silly boys. First, a picture from yesterday:

Notice the sunglasses? He had to wear them to church. No amount of coaxing would get him to take them off, and I finally decided it wasn't worth the battle. He wore them through the whole 3 hours of church, and home. He fell asleep, and I tried to take them off - he woke up just long enough to tell give me an emphatic "NO!" and then went back to sleep. Funny Kid!

Next, I have to make a note of this just because I think it is kind of funny. I've been trying to buy breakfast cereals with high fiber content lately. Mostly, for myself and my husband, but the funny thing is - the kids love them. They choose them over their usual Kix and Rice Chex almost every day.

Buggy's Favorite (along with a some new pictures - for the grandparents):

Beefy's Favorite:

I love that they (for some silly, strange reason) love these cereals. It just makes me laugh.

Finally, this one: My husband and I grew up loving the Animaniacs cartoons. We have the DVDs and a music CD that we listen to in the car occasionally. The kids think they are hilarious.

Today we were driving when "the Great Wakkorotti" came on (check it out here). It is fairly disgusting, but my boys (no surprises here) LOVED IT. The car was so full of the best giggles, that I couldn't help but laugh myself (especially as Beefy was trying to imitate it, after the song was over). Boys will be boys, right?

It's a good thing that they can make me laugh, to go with all of the gray hairs that I am going to get someday because of them.

Here We Go

Beefy is in underwear today. We've had only two accidents (and one of them was in the bathroom) and he's pooped in the potty already today too.

I'm not sure how I feel about this, Buggy was a lot of work to potty train, and I'm worried about Beefy being the same way. But, he acts as though he is ready, and he wanted to wear underwear today on his own, so I guess I am just going to go with it - and pray that he is a fast learner.

He is already more self motivated that Buggy ever was when we were training him. He will take himself into the bathroom about every 45 minutes to sit on the potty and try.

I'll keep you posted. Keep your fingers crossed for my sanity to stay in tact through all of this.

Move Over Martha!

Okay, so maybe I'm not quite to the status of "Domestic Diva" yet (heck, I'm not even as domestic as my Mom or Mother-in-law yet, let alone Martha) but, I did make Jam today.

It's just Strawberry freezer jam, from store-bought Strawberries (nope, I didn't even go to a farm and pick them myself-though I would like to sometime soon), but it tastes pretty good, and the making process went pretty smoothly (a good thing for me, with my three kids).

I'm on my way. Who knows, maybe next time I'll tackle something harder, like canned fruit (okay, maybe not).

My Helpful Strawberry Masher

The Finished Product

**Just in case anyone is interested, I used the "less sugar" recipe (you have to buy the special less sugar pectin with it too). It uses only 3 cups of Sugar as opposed to 7 in other recipes I have found, and it still tastes really good. I think it helps bring out more of the natural strawberry flavor.

Just Because

Here are a few new pictures of Baby Sister too. I can't believe that she is going to be 3 months old next week. Time flies....

I love this girl! She is so much fun, and such a good baby. She is really smile-y (except when the camera is out), and she has such a good way of making me calm when I am stressed.

Her Brothers love her too.

Park

We've been doing a lot of playing at the park (actually a few different parks), and swimming lately. These pictures were taken at a favorite park near us.

There is a sprinkler pad, a sand pile, and a really good playground at this place. Buggy loves the water, but Beefy is more inclined to the other activities still (I think the water scares him a little bit).

New Wheels

We are once again all healthy, and have been spending lots of time playing lately. We've had summer weather for like 3 weeks now (unheard of for Seattle) and we have been taking advantage of it. Unfortunately it means my posting, and other projects have suffered. So, today is my "get caught up day", and that is what I intend to do.

For the boy's birthdays this year we decided we were going to get them bikes. Rather than get Beefy one in May, and make Buggy wait until July, we got them both new bikes over memorial day (with the understanding that they are birthday presents). They have loved them, and we've been grateful for the good weather so that they can ride them often.

We were going to get Beefy a new tricycle instead of a bigger 2-wheel bike, but when we got to the store and realized that Buggy was too big for the 12" bike we had Beefy try it, and he took off on it right there in the store. It didn't take long to realize that the bike was a much better investment for Beefy.

They love their new rides.

"That's Awesome"

Yesterday I left Baby Sister's sweater at church. Beefy went back with me to pick it up, and as we were headed out to the car to go home again I was trying to coax him into the car by telling him we needed to go home to eat.

Me: C'mon, let's get in the car, we need to go home to eat dinner.
Beefy: Need to go eat dinner?
Me: Yep
Beefy: That's awesome!

I love it! That is a new expression for him, and it is so cute the way he says it. It sounds more like "awtumm" than awesome, but you can get the idea.

Diapers

So, I've had people ask me how the cloth diapering is going. I've been at it long enough that I now feel like I can make a reasonably educated review of the experience.

I have to admit, I was a skeptic when it came to cloth diapering. I never thought I would do it. But as I read reviews and heard my cloth diapering friends rave about it, I decided to give it a try. I am now completely, totally, 100% sold on it. At least I am sold on the diapers I use, I can't speak for the other methods out there that I haven't tried.

We've been using the diapers for a little over a month now, and they have been fantastic. We have had some leaking here and there, but usually only wet and only a little bit. She has only blown out of them twice, and once was in a diaper that she'd been wearing all night that I hadn't changed yet. We haven't had any diaper rash while wearing them either, and we can usually go all night in one diaper.

In contrast - we put her in disposables for the week we were on vacation. She had at least one blowout a day for the whole week (lots and lots of laundry/stain removing that week). I admit, she was in size 1 diapers at the time and she had almost grown out of them; but I used some size 2s while I was washing this week, and she has blown out of them pretty badly a couple of times too. My husband even had to leave church on Sunday to take her home and change her because she had blown through the diaper (size 2 disposable), her tights, onesie, bum cover, and dress. I feel like I have to change her much more frequently with the disposables, for fear that the instant she poops, we will ruin another outfit.

My only real complaint with the cloth diapers is that I will occasionally get some light staining. Washing them in a load with some bleach takes care of it. And besides, they're diapers. They don't have to be perfectly white for her to be able to poop in them.

Overall, very impressed/pleased with the experience. I would recommend it to anyone out there who is interested.

Quietly Going Crazy

I had a dream the other night about windows. More specifically my dream was about the only window in my house that, if it ever does get opened again, is going to cause me huge amounts of anxiety.

I'm sure it was brought on by the good weather and the fact that we've been opening the downstairs, and "out of kid reach" windows to help get some fresh air in, and cool the house down at night.

I don't remember details, only the sheer panic that it produced. I was walking around the corner from my staircase and saw the boys and one of their friends standing next to the open bedroom window. I was trying to scream at them to not move, but my voice wouldn't work (for some reason my voice never works in my dreams). I ran and got to the window just in time to grab the foot of the one who was going out the window (once again - don't know who it was). That was when I woke up, in a full sweat, with my heart pounding.

Buggy will occasionally still bring up his fears about the accident. I thought I was dealing with it pretty well, but apparently I'm still bothered by it too. I just hope that this dream doesn't become a recurring nightmare.

Sick of Being Sick

We all came home from vacation sick. Thus, the shortage of new posts on my blog for the last week or so.

Thankfully, the kids seem to have gotten the milder version of the cold, just a slight cough and runny nose. Baby Sister hasn't had any symptoms - also a huge blessing.

My husband seemed to get the brunt of it, and finally on Saturday I convinced him to see a doctor. He got some medicine and is doing much better. He talked me into going in also, even though I didn't feel nearly as bad as he did. I got something to help my cough, and an inhaler (apparently I was on my way to pneumonia without even knowing it), and I am starting to feel better.

I am now just dealing with some lingering allergy symptoms (congestion, mild sore throat) and I am just wishing for an instant fix. I never thought I would say this, but I kind of wish it would rain. We've had a couple of weeks of absolutely beautiful weather here (which, incidentally I've been LOVING), and now the air is full of pollens that usually get washed away before they have time to bother me.

I hate being sick. Hate it, hate it, hate it.
