Bedtime

The boys decided that they both wanted to lay in Buggy's bed during our scripture reading tonight. They looked very cute together, too bad they would never actually sleep like this.

Bubbles

We went for a walk this afternoon, and when we got back the boys wanted to stay out side and play bubbles. Beefy loved watching dad blow a big bubble and then popping it before he was finished blowing.
My favorite part of the activity though, was watching buggy use his "water bubble sword" (his words) to attack back at the bubbles that were attacking him.

Sharing a Room

So, even though our plans for a nursery have been put on hold for a while, we decided to "bite the bullet" and move Beefy in to Buggy's room. They have each had their own room for their entire (short) lives, and it seemed pointless, as all the toys were in one room, and they want to be together half the time anyway. I moved the crib and his dresser into Buggy's room yesterday, and he napped and slept there last night. So far so good, there were no real incidents during the night. Unfortunately, Beefy was up at 6 this morning. I am really hoping this doesn't become a habit.

Sleepybones

The other day we were away from the house for most of the day. Consequentially, Beefy missed his nap. I set the boys down on the couch to watch Sponge Bob while I made dinner, and the poor tired boy was asleep within minutes. I couldn't resist taking his picture.

Making My Day

It is amazing to me how my efforts in giving service always end up coming back to me more than I gave out to begin with. I have a friend who recently had surgery and is homebound. I went to visit her today with the intent to help her out, or at least provide a momentary relief from boredom. Amazingly enough, getting out of the house and being able to chat with someone older than my pre-schooler brightened my day immensely. I guess I can only hope that it brightened hers as well.

The Elephant in the Room

Because this blog is a way for me to document events in my life, I feel like I need this post to give background to what life has been like for me recently. To those of you who already know about this, sorry for the repeat, for those who don't sorry too. It is kind of a conversation stopper, so I haven't been the best about getting it out there until now. Last December(2007) I found out that I was pregnant with baby number 3. We hadn't been trying for very long and although things seemed to be going smoothly (for a pregnancy) I always had some underlying discomfort that something wasn't right. Obviously these feelings got pushed aside as paranoia. At 16 weeks(march) I went in to my doctor for a regular check-up and some routine blood work. We heard a heartbeat and everything seemed fine. A few days later I received a phone call that some of my blood work was kind of off, and they wanted me to go in for an in-depth ultrasound to make sure everything was alright. Unfortunately, we found out that our baby had passed away. Miscarriage at 17 weeks is rather rare, and I find it hard to call it a miscarriage, but I don't feel it was a stillbirth either. The "medical" term they used for me was "fetal demise", somehow that seems to fit. Four days later I was in for surgery to take care of it, and due to what looked like some bad infection, I spent 3 days in the hospital. Since then my life has been a flurry of doctors appointments and tests and some good days and some bad. It was a girl, and those who know me, understand how hard that is for me. Surprisingly enough, I am doing okay, granted there are some tough moments, but the peace I feel is stronger than the hurt. At this point we don't know the cause, and probably never will, but I know without a doubt that she is taken care of, and that I will get another chance to raise her. I believe that this knowledge (that this isn't the end) makes all the difference.

Introduction

I will be the first to admit that I am probably the worlds biggest hypocrite for starting a blog. I never understood the appeal (truthfully I'm not sure I still do) but I recently have found my self in great need an outlet, not to mention the feelings that this would be a good way to keep a much needed record of things in my life that might otherwise be forgotten. So, with my disclaimer out of the way, here I go into the a very unknown (to me at least) world. Enjoy!
